Item 2: Consideration of Town Wide Planning:

-Chris Cronan gave the Planning Board a list of questions the he has for Terry Dewan (Master Planner). Chris stated that the Board should go over the questions and develop some suggestions before meeting with Terry. The questions include the following:

1.      Where future Town roads should be developed to permit development and rural traffic flow, while preserving high value of open space?
2.      Can the Town map the undeveloped Town lands in terms of high, medium, and low values for open space potential? What are the highest priorities for open space preservation?
3.      What kinds of build-out scenarios can the Town envision with Community VIZ software?
4.      What tools should be used to encourage compact development and to preserve our high value rural open space?
a.      TDR
b.      Conservation subdivision overlay
c.      Purchase or donation of conservation easements
5.      Should the Town plan for future recreation areas in Town?
6.      Are changes needed in zones and zone boundaries?
7.      Do we have issues regarding industrial and commercial zoning in Veazie?

-There was general discussion about the above mentioned questions and the Board decided to put off the zoning questions until after meeting with Terry. The Board would like to focus on the roads and open space during the first workshop with Terry.

Next Meeting: September 2, 2003

Motion to adjourn @ 8:51 pm by Terry Studley. Seconded by John Manter

Respectfully submitted,

Beckie-Jo Woods
