SMALL CITIES COMMITTEE
MINUTES
MONDAY, MARCH 9, 2011
The meeting was called to order at 6:15 p.m for the purposes of discussing a grant application for the Sullivan Senior Center.
Present were Chair Drake Waldron, Councilors Marie Solani and Paul Samele, Sr. Center Director Nancy Hodkoski, Nutrition Supervisor Joel Sekorski and Corporation Counsel Ernestine Yuille Weaver.
Nancy Hodkoski presented to the Committee the Senior Center’s need for renovation and expansion and requested that the project be considered for Small Cities funding. In order to have the project ready for grant consideration, the project needs to be ready by April 15, 2011. In order to do this she proposed contracting with Kaestle Boos architects, waiving the bid process and borrow $20,000 from contingency that would be repaid either once the grant is awarded or through another fund designated for Small Cities.
On a motion by Councilor Soliani seconded by Councilor Samele, the Committee voted to recommend the project, along with waiving the bid process and borrowing the $20,000 from contingency to the full Council.
There being no other business upon a motion by Councilor Samele seconded by Councilor Soliani, the meeting adjourned at 6:33 p.m.
Recorder of the Day,
Ernestine Yuille Weaver
