MINUTES
MONDAY, November 7, 2011
The meeting was called to order at 6:10 p.m.
Present were Chair Gerald Zordan, City Councilors Marie Soliani and Greg Cogswell. Building Official Brett Zuraitis and Corporation Counsel Ernestine Weaver were also in attendance
Amend Blight Ordinance
The Ordinance Committee met to discuss whether it was willing to recommend to the City Council the appointment of a special committee to consider special assessment of blighted property and the creation of an ordinance that would allow the City to enter upon private property to prevent and remediate blight in accordance with Connecticut General Statute section 7-148ff. The Councilors were willing to only recommend a committee to explore the matter, but did not want a vote to appear to support the action. The Committee strongly expressed a desire for details, none of which were or could be provided until after the special committee examined the issues. Based upon that conclusion on a motion by Councilor Soliani seconded by Councilor Cogswell, the Committee voted to make the recommendation to the full Council.
Beer Service at Fuessenich Park
The Committee did not want to take up this issue unless representatives from Park & Recreation and the Torrington Titans were available to discuss the issue with them. They will be invited to the next ordinance meeting.
There being no further business on a motion by Marie Soliani, seconded by Greg Cogswell, the meeting adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
