REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE POLICE & FIREMEN'S PENSION FUND
July 9, 2014
A REGULAR MEETING of the Board of Trustees of the Police & Firemen Pension Fund was held on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 in the City Hall Auditorium.
Those in attendance included Mayor Elinor Carbone, Corporation Counsel Raymond Rigat, Commissioners Richard Zaharek, Robert Conforti, Glenn McLeod, and Darlene Battle, along with Fire Lt. Edward Delisle and Firefighter Michael Soliani. Commissioners Angelo LaMonica, and Douglas Benedetto, and Police Officers Steven Krzanowski and Oscar Segui were absent.
Mayor Carbone called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. beginning with the Pledge of Allegiance.
MINUTES
On a motion by Commissioner Conforti, seconded by Commissioner Zaharek, the Board voted unanimously to accept the minutes of the Regular Joint Meeting held March 5, 2014.
PENSION FUND CUSTODIAN: wells Fargo Bank
On a motion by Commissioner Conforti, seconded by Commissioner McLeod, the Board voted unanimously to accept FIA’s recommendation to replace the current custodian of pension funds with Wells Fargo Bank.
police DEPT. PENSION COMPUTATIONS
Police Department pension computations were tabled to the next meeting, due to a lack of quorum from that bargaining unit.
FIRE DEPT. PENSION COMPUTATIONS
On a motion by Commissioner McLeod, seconded by Commissioner Zaharek, the Board voted unanimously to accept the following pension computations:
David Kuhn, Firefighter, effective February 22, 2014, after 27 years of service
Edward Derwitsch, Firefighter, effective March 22, 2014, after 25.52 years of service
Steven Consolini, Firefighter, effective April 26, 2014, after 25.81 years of service
Richard Meyer, Lieutenant, effective April 26, 2014, after 33.40 years of service
Edward Smith, Captain, effective May 10, 2014, after 29.31 years of service
David Rogers, Captain, effective May 17, 2014, after 26.02 years of service
Charles Warner, Lieutenant, effective May 31, 2014, after 28.63 years of service
David Starr, Captain, effective June 21, 2014 after 28.71 years of service.
On a motion by Commissioner Zaharek, seconded by Commissioner Battle, the Board voted unanimously to accept the revised pension calculation for Firefighter Victor Corsi, previously approved on March 3, 2014.
DISCUSSION: PENSION COMPUTATION APPROVAL PROCESS
Mayor Carbone explained her plans to create a smaller board or subcommittee to approve computations and make it easier to have a quorum at each meeting. Commissioner McLeod said there should be a representative from each group present at each meeting.
ADJOURNMENT
On a motion by Commissioner Conforti, seconded by Commissioner McLeod, the meeting was adjourned at 5:38 p.m.
