Cultural Affairs Committee Minutes

Attendance: Mayor Ryan Bingham, Tim Waldron, A. Bates Lyons, Osvaldo Rosado, Ruth Gonzalez, Maria Gonzalez, Brian Mattiello, Jo-An Creedon, Chief Maniago, Rose Ponte
Chairman Osvaldo Rosado called the meeting to order at 5:30pm.
Discussion was held on the topic of the Committee’s role in the ipad/technology in the school issue. The committee felt that the issue was better left to the Board of Education.
Maria Gonzalez suggested engaging the residents through a community meeting, introducing the committee and letting them know that the committee is available for suggestions and help if needed and to help direct people to the appropriate agencies of departments for assistance.
Brian Mattiello suggested using the goal sheet to help refocus the committee and keep everyone on track. The committee will explore the following areas: Access to Health care and the health disparity; Educational Attainment; Outreach and Engagement.
The Cultural Affairs Committee agreed to meet on the second Tuesday of the month at 4:00pm in the Auditorium for 2013.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:25 on a motion by Osvaldo Rosado and seconded by Mayor Bingham
