Those in attendance- Osvaldo Rosado, Delois Lindsey, William Battle, Chief Michael Maniago, Ruth Gonzalez, Ryan J Bingham, Stephen Nocera, Rose Ponte, Brian Mattiello
Osvaldo Rosado opened the meeting.
Mr. Rosado passed out the code of ethics for potential members to sign and return to the city clerks office.
Members discussed the proposed by-laws.  There were no objections to moving forward to City Council with a request that the Cultural Affairs Committee be made permanent.
Old Business
        -Discussion about the welcome book took place.  There was discussion about the involvement of the High School and Oliver Wolcott Technical School to provide an educational opportunity and possibly a cost savings.
New Business
        -Rose Ponte discussed the City’s intention to apply for a new Brownfield’s Grant.  She wanted to have the involvement of the committee to get the word out to the community.  She had ideas about forums educating community members about what Brownfield’s are, and also talked about support for the management of the grant.
        -Bill Battle discussed an International Film Festival.  He mentioned that CAFTA on 61 Main Street started a weekly film series from around the world.  This takes place every Friday at 530pm.  
        -Lois Lindsay discussed her doctoral thesis involving African American and Latino kids preparing for college and reasons why they weren’t attending college.  There was much discussion about potential reasons and facts.  The committee wanted to be involved with getting the word out and introducing a high school program that helps kids and parents gain knowledge about financial aid programs to help kids go to college.

Meeting was adjourned at approximately 6pm
