TECC Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

Called to Order by Donna Labbe at 12:40pm

Minutes from last meeting reviewed and approved as printed.
Grants Discussion:
PEP/APEX Current sessions just ending, PEP class will be doing 2 community projects/activities.
NCCC Course 8 participants from Torrington completed course, new courses to run both in Spring and Fall 2009.
Partnership Grant Technical funds applied for to use for asset mapping for our community, plan due in June 2009.
Committee Updates:
School Readiness Sue Vivian tracking updates from State Dept of Education and working with Cheryl Kloczko to visit area preschools, to facilitate information to schools of children entering Kindergarten.
Professional Development 30plus providers attended training on State Dept Of Education Infant/Toddler Guidelines. Spring offerings may include: Sensory Integration & Conscious Discipline. Discussed different ways to offer the Conscious Discipline class.
Public Awareness Website structure completed, committee uploading content.
Karla Woodworth asked to be co-chair of this committee.
Parent Committee Have collected more than 200 Winter Coats from Clothing & Accessories Drive. Donations being received and Mindy Hobson has been delivering item directly to the schools. Committee has adopted a family to provide a Christmas meal and toys.
Leadership Workgroup Has a wealth of information to sift through to focus on strategies for community improvement. Draft plan will probably be presented in Spring 2009.
Executive New organizational chart handed out. Dates for 2009 handed out. New location will be at Board of Ed building.
Budget: Donna Labbe’s hours will be reduced to 15 hours per week under the Discovery grant, starting January 2009. Her hours for the Leadership workgroup will be 5 hours per week. We did put in request for $5,000 for city funding. TECC has brought in $80,000 in grant funding to the city.
Discussed current need for volunteers to work on the community plan for birth to age 8 with newspaper reporter Jim Moore .
