SPECIAL MEETING, MAIN STREET MARKETPLACE PLANNING
Minutes – May 14, 2014 – 10:30-11:30am – Torrington Library

I. Call To Order
The meeting was called to order by Jess Hodorski at 10:35 a.m.
II. Open Public Meeting
Motion by Bill Haygood, seconded by Fiona de Merell
III. Acceptance of previous Meeting Minutes
Motion by Kim Fazzino, seconded by Ed Cannata.
IV. Main Street Marketplace Update
a. Vendors
We already have 27 regular vendors signed up for each night, and 14 food vendors. $13,000 vendor fees have been committed so far, with $5975 of that amount collected. We are on track according to previous years’ activity.
b. Entertainment
Mike needs the entertainment contract from Erin. All the bands are committed.
c. Sponsorship
The brochure has been finalized. Details of sponsorship levels are on the brochure. Rainbow Press will print 100 copies of the brochure for $77. There was discussion about how many printed copies we need. We will request 50 initially.
Motion to purchase 50 copies of the brochure was made by Fiona, and seconded by Kim.
We have the following sponsorship commitments as of today:
Charlotte Hungerford Hospital: $1,000
UConn Torrington: $1,000
Toyota: $500
$500 gives a dealership one night. For $500, the car dealerships will get a ½ page ad in the weekly printed schedule and space to show three cars on Main Street.
MSMP 2014 prints: Ed and Bill have found a company that will frame the prints for $24. The group discussed offering the $1,000+ sponsors the more expensive framed print.
d. Expenses
Jess outlined the costs of running MSMP per night.
Police presence $800
Abeling tents $1,000
Entertainment $250
Printing / media promotion $250
$2900 ($23200 for 8 weeks)
This year, we need to get enough sponsorships to pay for an event manager for 2015.

MSMP will run from Water Street to Alvord Street this year.
