SPECIAL MEETING
BOARD OF FINANCE
September 24, 2014
A SPECIAL MEETING was held by the Board of Finance in the City Hall Auditorium on Wednesday, September 24, 2014.
Those in attendance included Mayor Elinor Carbone, Corporation Counsel Raymond Rigat, Board of Finance members Joshua Ferreira, Frank Rubino, Thomas Scoville, Laurene Pesce, Mark Bushka and Bill Lamoin. Board of Education Director of Human Resources Joseph Campolieta was also present.
Mayor Carbone called the meeting to order at 6:21 p.m.
PRESENTATION: Board of Education
Mr. Campolieta reported that the Board of Education will be opening negotiations with the Torrington Education Association and asked the Board for their input, suggestions and ideas to share with the Board of Education negotiating team.
Mayor Carbone asked the Board of Finance if a member would like to serve as a liaison to some of those negotiations or at least the pre-negotiation strategy meetings. Mr. Campolieta offered to send the Mayor a schedule of meetings when it becomes available.
Mr. Scoville said the variables are an increase in the grand list and an increase in state aid.
Mrs. Pesce said her goal has always been for the entire City to be on the same insurance plan for economy of scale.
Mr. Lamoin said the health plan is definitely important not only for current employees but in the long-term for retirees.
ADJOURNMENT
On a motion by Mr. Rubino, seconded by Mr. Scoville, the meeting was adjourned at 6:26 p.m.
