- Rose Ponte updated the commission on several projects, mainly the City Canvas Initiative, Main Street Marketplace, and Harvest Festival, grants, and downtown streetscape project.
- FOI Informational meeting. There was an informational meeting for all to attend for FOI, Commissioner Thibault made note that monthly agendas and minutes need to be posted.
- EDC Website: The EDC website subcommittee met throughout the summer and interviewed 4 different website design firms to design a new EDC website. The committee worked well together and many topics were discussed. Once the website firm is contracted, those wishing to serve on the committee will work with the firm to supply content and design ideas.
- Business Visitation Program: We had hoped to start business visitations in the fall, since last month we had our monthly meeting at the chamber by way of the Economic Development course offered by Community Builder’s Institute we have not started this program. We will discuss during next month’s meeting businesses that commissioners would like to visit.
- New Business: Commissioner Michna thought that it would be beneficial to keep track of businesses and projects that have approached the City but decided to move elsewhere. Keeping track of these events and analyzing them could help us see where opportunities lie and where challenges continue to exist. Rose Ponte thought it was a great idea, yet was concerned about her ability to have this accomplished within a short period of time, since she is working on 4 grants that have a November deadline. Commissioner Thibault mentioned that perhaps this could be accomplished through committee work since one of this year’s goals is for EDC to assist Rose in some of the annual projects. All agreed this analysis would be very helpful.
- Next Month’s meeting will be held on Monday November 5 since the regularly scheduled meeting falls on Election Day. The meeting will take place in room 311.
Having no further business the meeting was adjourned at 7:00 PM;
