ATTENDANCE: Nancy Sieller, JoAnn Ryan, Bill Battles, Erin Wilson, Lance Boynton, John Ryan, Chris Beyus

Meeting called to order at 5:04 by Erin Wilson

Vote to open meeting to public made by JoAnn Ryan second by Bill Battles

Introduction of new EDC Commissioner John Ryan. Ed Cannata’s commission was not extended as he is Chair of Arts & Culture. Commission will send letter thanking Ed for his service.

Change to 4-5-16 minutes New EDC Commissioners should have read Lance Boynton. Motion to accept minutes must be tabled no quorum, Motion to table Bill Battles second Lance Boynton.

News & Updates from Director of EDC

Vote to consider business presented by the Mayor and members of the Commission. UConn closing took up much time in April. Vote was to close campus now push for City will be to move OWTS there. Land must be used for educational purposes.

New Business: Proposed State of CT budget will cause a huge loss to the City.  Based upon losses from the State and a zero increase in City Hall budget we may be looking at an increase of 2 mill rates. EDC will continue to look for State Grants.
City is beginning to look at a new Tax Abatement program outside the Enterprise Corridor Zone, the goal being to spur development in the City.
Still many good things going on in the City, Five Points Gallery thriving world wide, THS music program being recognized nationally and scholars being graduated from THS.
JoAnn Ryan suggests the City shares weekly with the population at least one positive project going on in the City.
New restaurant opening on Water Street Saturday night.

Old Business Brownfield projects moving forward. Hotel at Yankee Pedlar is moving along and is part of the Best Western chain.
