                     SPECIAL JOINT MEETING OF THE
        BOARD OF FINANCE AND THE
        BOARD OF COUNCILMEN
       JANUARY 22, 2007

A   SPECIAL JOINT MEETING OF THE BOARD OF FINANCE AND THE
BOARD OF COUNCILMEN was held on Monday, January 22, 2007 in the Council Chambers, in regard to the re-appointment of the City’s Tax Collector, Robert Crovo.

Those in attendance included Mayor Ryan J. Bingham, members of the Board of Finance Bruce Cornish, Mark Bushka, James Nichol, and James Zeller, members of the Board of Councilmen Thomas Jerram, Richard E. Dalla Valle, Andrew Slaiby, and Drake Waldron, Corp. Counsel Ernestine Yuille Weaver, and Tax Collector Robert Crovo.  Board of Finance members Daniel Farley and Joseph Nader, and Board of Councilmen members James McKenna and Marie Soliani were absent.

Mayor Bingham called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m.

Mayor Bingham read into the record the item on the agenda: Vote on the re-appointment of Robert Crovo as Tax Collector for a four-year term to expire on May 12, 2011.
Mayor Bingham further noted that the motion should include the following: In a term commencing May 1, 2007, ending May 2011, Mr. Crovo shall be entitled to the interest earned until the first Monday in September and March and make payments to the city in increments of at least $300,000.00 when received prior to July 1st and January 1st of each year.  Mr. Crovo shall also supply the city treasurers with copies of any tapes, books, or records on a monthly basis showing the pre-payments received and deposited with the city, as the commission payable to Mr. Crovo for the period commencing May 2007 and terminating May 2011 shall be at a percentage rate of .0025 or .25% on the total amount of taxes and sewer fees.

Councilor Jerram made the motion, per Mayor Bingham’s statement above.  Mr. Cornish seconded the motion.  

No discussion took place.

A roll call vote of the Board of Councilmen was taken.  Councilors Jerram, Slaiby, Waldron voted in favor of the motion.  Councilor Dalla Valle opposed the motion.  On a 3-1 vote the motion carried by the Board of Councilmen.

A roll call vote of the Board of Finance was taken.  Mr. Cornish, Mr. Bushka, Mr. Nichol, & Mr. Zeller voted in favor of the motion.  On a 4-0 vote, the motion carried by the Board of Finance.

The motion carried.

ADJOURNMENT #080
On a motion by Councilor Jerram, seconded by Mr. Cornish, the boards voted unanimously to adjourn at 6:40 p.m.
