MARCH 8, 2004
A BUDGET MEETING was held by the City Council & WPC Authority on Monday, March 8, 2004, in the Council Chambers.
Those attending included Mayor Owen J. Quinn, Jr., City Councilors Thomas C. Jerram, Paul F. Samele, Jr., James F. McKenna, and Drake L. Waldron, Corp. Counsel Albert Vasko, Comptroller Alice Proulx, Treasurer Richard J. Friday, Director of Elderly Services Nancy Gyurko, Tax Assessor Brian Lastra, Purchasing Agent Charlene Antonelli, Director of Social Services Yvonne Adorno, Building Official Francis Cardello, Registrar of Voters John Ciesco, Deputy Registrars of Voters Roberta Waldron and Nan Samele, Data Processing Manager William Hoffman, and Personnel Director Thomas Gritt. Absent was Councilor Marie P. Soliani.
Mayor Quinn called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m.
ASSESSOR #3060
On a motion by Councilor Jerram, seconded by Councilor Waldron, the board voted to tentatively approve the Assessor’s Budget.
BUILDING #3410
On a motion by Councilor Jerram, seconded by Councilor Samele, the board voted to tentatively approve the Building Department Budget.
Vehicle is needed for the electrical inspector.
Part time secretary is budgeted for full time.
CORP. COUNSEL #3540
On a motion by Councilor Waldron, seconded by Councilor McKenna, the board voted to tentatively approve the Corporation Counsel’s Budget.
CITY COUNCIL #3600
On a motion by Councilor Jerram, seconded by Councilor McKenna, the board voted to tentatively approve the City Council Budget.
PERSONNEL #3630
On a motion by Councilor McKenna, seconded by Councilor Jerram, the board voted to tentatively approve the Personnel Budget.
The Supervisors and Police contracts will be up for renewal in July.
PURCHASING #3750
On a motion by Councilor Waldron, seconded by Councilor Jerram, the board voted to tentatively approve the Purchasing Budget.
Regular Wages decreased because an employee was replaced with someone having less seniority.
REGISTRARS #3900
On a motion by Councilor Jerram, seconded by Councilor McKenna, the board voted to tentatively approve the Registrars’ Budget.
SENIOR CENTER: TAPE 2 #240
On a motion by Councilor Jerram, seconded by Councilor Samele, the board voted to tentatively approve the Senior Center Budget.
TREASURER #300
On a motion by Councilor Jerram, seconded by Councilor McKenna, the board voted to tentatively approve the Treasurer’s Budget.
BOND REDEMPTION #340
On a motion by Councilor Jerram, seconded by Councilor Waldron, the board voted to tentatively approve the Bond Redemption Budget.
DEBT INDEBTEDNESS #380
On a motion by Councilor Jerram, seconded by Councilor Waldron, the board voted to tentatively approve the Debt Indebtedness Budget.
DATA PROCESSING #460
On a motion by Councilor Jerram, seconded by Councilor Waldron, the board voted to tentatively approve the Data Processing Budget.
Mr. Hoffman was looking to add $4,000.00 to his budget to support a Disaster Recovery Plan.
The board agreed that a new phone system / Voice Mail should be investigated.
Mayor Quinn suggested formulating a wish list of items that would allow them to prioritize, add or delete later on during the budget process.
SOCIAL SERVICES #680
On a motion by Councilor Jerram, seconded by Councilor Waldron, the board voted to tentatively approve the Social Services’ Budget.
The meeting adjourned at 8:37 p.m.
