MINUTES
BOARD OF PUBLIC SAFETY
APRIL 1, 2009

A SPECIAL  MEETING of the Board of Public Safety was held on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, in the Senior Center Main Room.
Those in attendance included Mayor Ryan J. Bingham, members of the Board of Public Safety Gerald A. Zordan, Richard Zaharek, Douglas J. Benedetto, James E. Potter, Christopher Cook and Robert C. Zordan, Acting Police Chief Michael Maniago, Traffic Officer Robert Shopey, Capt. Christopher Smedick, Lt. Michael Emanuel, Officer Michael Morris, Officer John Newkirk, and Personnel Director Thomas Gritt.
Mayor Bingham called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m.


EXECUTIVE SESSION: PERSONNEL #1732
On a motion by Commissioner Potter, seconded by Commissioner Cook, the Board voted unanimously to enter Executive Session with Personnel Director Thomas Gritt under personnel at 7:36 p.m.
OPEN SESSION #1775
On a motion by Commissioner G. Zordan, seconded by Commissioner Benedetto,  the Board voted unanimously to return to open session.
POLICE CHIEF #1777
On a motion by Commissioner Potter, seconded by Commissioner Benedetto, the Board voted unanimously to permanently fill the Police Chief Vacancy, and ( offer the position to Acting Police Chief Michael Maniago to be effective April 8, 2009. )  on a secondary motion by Commissioner R. Zordan, seconded by Commissioner Benedetto, unanimously offered the position to Acting Police Chief Maniago to be effective April 8, 2009.
ADJOURNMENT #1832
On a motion by Commissioner Potter, seconded by Commissioner R. Zordan, the board voted unanimously to adjourn at 8:16 p.m.
