Warming Centers Open Throughout Torrington

TORRINGTON CT – January 23, 2013 – Mayor Ryan Bingham has announced that the City Hall Auditorium would be open for use as a warming center for residents that are in need.
The Auditorium will be opened on Wednesday, January 23rd from 8am-4:00pm; Thursday, January 24th from 8:00am-6:30pm; and on Friday, January 25 from 8:00am to 12:30pm. The Auditorium is located on the second floor of City Hall, 140 Main Street in Torrington.
In addition to the Auditorium, the following locations will be available as a warming center:
- Sullivan Senior Center, 88 East Albert Street, Wednesday 8am-5pm; Thursday 8am-5pm; and Friday 8am-4pm (Note the Senior Center will be opened for seniors only)
- Torrington Health & Rehab, 225 Wyoming Avenue, Wednesday-Friday 11am-7pm
- Register Citizen Newspaper, 59 Field Street, Wednesday-Friday 7am-7pm
- Torrington Soup Kitchen, 220 Prospect Street, Thursday 7am-1pm, and 4pm-9pm (dinner served from 4 :30pm-5:30pm) Friday 7am-1pm, and 3pm-9pm
Mayor Bingham encourages all residents to dress warmly when traveling outside and to look in on those that may be most at risk to weather related ailments. “As frigid temperatures move into our area I urge anyone that needs to get out of the cold to stop by any of the warming centers that are open and warm up” said Mayor Bingham.
