MAYOR QUINN CALLS COURTHOUSE EIE REPORT VERY ENCOURAGING

TORRINGTON – Mayor Owen J. Quinn called the state’s Environmental Impact Evaluation for the new county courthouse a very thorough and unbiased document adding he was encouraged by the speed at which the project is moving.

The state’s EIE report, released Tuesday, detailed environmental, cost analysis and other aspects associated with the three properties being considered for the location of Torrington’s new county courthouse.

Mayor Quinn, who took time from campaigning at the polls on Election Day to read through some of the voluminous report, said the state appears to have done their job well.

“I still have to dissect it some more as it’s a large report,” Mayor Quinn said. “But at first glance all appears as expected and there seems to be no surprises which is good.”

Hardcopies of the report are available for public review at the Torrington’s City Clerk’s Office, the Torrington Library, the Litchfield Town Clerk’s Office, Oliver Wolcott Library and the State Office Building, at 165 Capital Ave. Room No. 275 in Hartford.

A public hearing for the EIE is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on December 14, 2005 at the Torrington City Hall auditorium.
