Torrington is on the verge of a Renaissance; a rebirth of the city as the vibrant, energetic center of Litchfield County. Much attention has been
generated by the new Downtown Redevelopment Plan, the Litchfield County Courthouse, and the devoted restoration of key areas downtown including the Warner Theatre, Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts, and Coe Park. In an effort to maintain this momentum and to take an active role in revitalizing and directing the future for Torrington, Mayor Quinn is pleased to unveil the plan for Torrington Renaissance.
Torrington Renaissance is based on the idea that, through concentrated efforts of City officials, municipal staff, residents of Torrington, local civic groups and interested developers, Torrington can shine in a lasting new way. The program’s goal is to not only improve the public perceptions of the City, but also to improve Torrington’s overall appearance for its environmental and economic benefits.
Because input from the community is crucial to make this a success, the Mayor is inviting civic organizations, community groups, families and individuals to make a difference in Torrington. Whether it is sponsoring a clean-up, participating in flower planting, judging a garden competition, painting your house, writing grants for street tree programs, or investing in streetscape enhancements - your ideas and energy is needed.
Look for the Torrington Renaissance booth at the Heritage Day celebration on August 14th in Coe Park. At the booth, you will be able to learn more about the program and sign up to volunteer at upcoming Renaissance beautification events.
We look forward to having you join Torrington Renaissance!
