2003 Reassessment Project
The City of Torrington's reassessment project is nearing completion. State law now requires Connecticut municipalities to reassess all real estate at least once every four years. The city's last reassessment was completed with the signing of the 1999 Grand List.
The purpose of the reassessment is to establish accurate assessments based upon current market values. In late November property owners will be mailed a notice of the new assessment.
Four public informational meetings have been scheduled to help those interested better understand the revaluation process, prepare to evaluate their new assessment, and learn about informal assessment hearing and complaint procedures. These meetings will be conducted by the City of Torrington and Vision Appraisal Technology, the appraisal firm retained by the City to perform many of the reassessment tasks. The meetings will be held in the City Hall Auditorium at 140 Main Street on the following dates and times:
October 22, 2003
4:30 PM and 7:00 PM
October 27, 2003
7:00 PM
October 28, 2003
7:00 PM
The subject material presented at each meeting will be the same. Property owners are encouraged to attend one meeting that is the most convenient. If you cannot attend one of the meetings, the materials that will be presented can be found on the Tax Assessor's Webpage.
