Rechargeable Battery Recycling Program
CITY OF TORRINGTON
Joins
NATIONAL RECHARGEABLE BATTERY
RECYCLING PROGRAM

10703_55505_0.pngThe City of Torrington has joined a national program called Charge Up to Recycle!  to offer convenient recycling of used rechargeable batteries commonly found in many portable electronics such as cellular phones, laptop computers, cameras, cordless telephones, cordless power tools and camcorders.  When the battery is no longer usable, the City of Torrington can now recycle it.

The following types of rechargeable batteries can now be recycled:
        Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd)
Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH)
Lithium Ion (Li-ion)
Small Sealed Lead (Pb) rechargeable batteries (less than two pounds)

Just bring your rechargeable batteries to City Hall Room 311 for easy, convenient recycling.

The City of Torrington and communities nationwide are working in cooperation with the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Cooperation (RBRC), a nonprofit public service organization that operates the Charge Up to Recycle! ® program.  By participating in the RBRC Program, the City is helping to conserve the earth's natural resources and to prevent rechargeable batteries from entering the country's landfills.

To learn more about the Charge Up to Recycle! ® program or to find additional participating drop off locations in the Torrington area, visit the website at www.rbrc.org or call toll free 1-800-8-BATTERY.
