Board of Selectmen set a Winter Contractor Rate of $25/hour. This position is to be used in the absence of a town employee who may be using family leave. Selectmen Steve moved to authorize, seconded by Patrick. The motion carried unanimously
A discussion was had with Ed on the $100,000 that was approved through the state’s budget. The request was made by Senator Donald Humason to be used towards the DPW building fire. Ed stated that he would like to pursue purchasing a used single axle truck and if any monies remained purchase a small pickup. The current F250 would be traded towards the purchase of the small pickup.
The Board of Selectmen met with Peter Larkin, Special Advisor of the Massachusetts Broadband Institute. Peter reviewed where Tolland stood with broadband and strongly suggested that the Board of Selectmen meet with any and all providers that are interested in supplying service to Tolland. Through MBI’s Flexible Grant Program 3 entities offered potential broadband network solutions (Crocker, Matrix and WhipCity). The Board of Selectmen has schedule to meet with WhipCity the week of February 26th and will schedule with the others.
