MINUTES OF SELECTMEN MEETING – April 3, 2017 5:00 PM

Ruth Buchanan introduced Cindy Ashley as the new Tolland Outreach Worker.
Discussed the Police Chief’s Fiscal 2018 training and patrol hours budget request. Ed requested to increase patrol hours from 24 hours weekly to 40 hours and the Police Officer’s be compensated for the 40 hours of training required by the state with additional in office monthly training of 4 hours. Currently, the Officers have been using patrol hours to fill the required training hours. The Board of Selectmen and Finance Committee agreed to present on the town warrant 88 hours each of training for 3 Officer’s. Patrol monies will be level funded but will in effect increase with the training line item.
Eric Munson, III, Fire Chief updated the board on the donation from the Town of Burrville. With the donations the new Fire Truck request will be placed on hold for a couple of years. Eric requested that the Annual Town Meeting warrant include an article to establish a stabilization account for the future purchase of a fire truck. The board will include an article to transfer $100,000 from free cash.
