MINUTES OF SELECTMEN MEETING – August 22, 2016 5:00 PM
Selectmen Present: Eric R. Munson, Jr., Steven DellaGiustina and Thomas Paine
Also Present: Randy Hill
Randy Hill of 18 New Boston Road asked the Board of Selectmen to consider the town purchasing 18 New Boston Road for the price of assessed value ($121,200) plus the cost of the new roof ($18,000). The board voted not to bring the purchase option before the taxpayers.
Bid opening for the Tolland Public Library-
Ted W. Turgeon – with Cement board Labor & Material $92,580
Clear Cedar Siding Labor & Material $13,840.00
Three Metal basement windows $2,085.00
SS Home Improvements – with Hardi Plank Labor & Material $21,022.52
Cedar Labor & Material $24,000.00
The board accepted the bid of SS Home Improvements Contingent on the preview of the brand of windows being used. SS Home will supply a dumpster and no permit fee will be charged.
A fee for the use of the Public Safety Complex for taxpayers will be $.00 with a refundable security deposit of $75.00 for nonpaying taxpayers a usage fee of $75 with a refundable security deposit of $75.00.
A discussion was had about hiring a seasonal employee. In following the unemployment requirements for a seasonal employee the town can hire an individual for a period of 6 weeks but must receive authorization 60 days prior to hiring. The board felt it would be best to wait until the spring to start the process.
