MINUTES OF SELECTMEN MEETING – February 7, 2011 5:00 PM
Selectmen Present: Eric R. Munson, Jr., Steven DellaGiustina and Thomas Paine
Also Present: John Verones, Owner’s Project Manager
John MacMillan, Reinhardt Associates, Inc.
Robert Gery and Ted Locke
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and accepted.
The Board of Selectmen met with John Verones, John MacMillan, Robert Gery and Ted Locke.
With the lowest General Contractors bid leaving the project with a $31,000 contingency fund for change orders John MacMillan’s recommendation is that all General Contractor bids be rejected and re-bid with no add alternates.
The Selectboard voted to reject all bids and re-bid the General Contractor.
Bob Gery reviewed the Tolland Building Committee Guideline that was approved by the Board of Selectmen and written by John Verones. Bob recommended that the Committee come to an end for the following reasons:
Finished with the major decisions and that their skills would not be needed as they were in the past.
John Verones will be responsible for the “day to day” administration.
Doesn’t feel any further significant contributions and thought that they possibly
could hold up decisions the selectmen had to quickly make based on
John Verones and John MacMillan’s recommendations (Don’t want to be the
“middleman” )
The Selectmen agreed with the recommendation and will eliminate the committee after the General Contractor bid has been awarded. The committee will be informed at their meeting on February 23rd.
The Board of Selectmen will meet with the 501C3 board to discuss their needs and the requirements of the 501C3.
