Brittany Munson was chosen by the eighth grade staff at Powder Mill Middle School to represent the town of Tolland along with 350 other eighth-graders across the state for Governor Deval Patrick and Lt. Governor Tim Murray’s Project 351.

Project 351 was supposed to commence, Saturday, Jan 8 but due to inclement weather, it was postponed until, Saturday, Jan. 15. All of the ambassadors chosen from each town met in Boston for dialogue with Gov. Deval Patrick and special guest Ray Allen. Following that, students were divided into groups for their service orientation at one of five sites. The sites include: Cradles to Crayons, Countdown to Kindergarten, the Greater Boston Food Bank, The Dimock Center and Blackstone Elementary School in the South End. After participating in the community service, everyone was transported back to Cradles to Crayons and enjoyed a celebration with food and music.

Brittany was assigned to work at the Boston Food Bank. Along with other students, Brittany helped staff with three activities: packing bags of apples for senior citizens, making weekend lunch bags for South Boston children who may otherwise go without food for the weekend and helping to sort food for grocery bags destined for senior citizens.

John Verones, Owner’s Project Manager presented an organizational chart for the Tolland Public Safety Complex and DPW renovation. The Chart will be discussed with the Selectmen at the next Selectmen’s meeting, Monday, January 31, 2011. Also, John submitted an amendment to his contract for Project Management Services.
