MINUTES OF SELECTMEN MEETING – AUGUST 24, 2009 5:00 PM

Signed Chapter 90 Project request of the reclaiming of Clubhouse Road
Received a letter from David and Arlene Hiller of Ona Road. The letter stated concerns with the condition of Moreau Road. Moreau Road is owned by the Town of Blandford. The Town of Tolland Board of Selectmen and Highway Superintendent Wayne Carr have offered to help the Town of Blandford when the project is scheduled.
Discussed the December, 2008 Ice Storm with Wayne Carr. The Town of Tolland has two open contracts with FEMA for debris removal totaling $161,880.00. Federal reimbursement of 75% is $121,410.00 Town of Tolland’s share 25% $40,470.00.
The Board of Selectmen rejected the one bid from BRD for the monitoring of the project.
Wayne asked for the authorization to upgrade the town’s current 1993 chipper. The board authorized the purchase with three written quotes.
With the purchase of the chipper being approximately $30,000.00 the remaining reimbursement to complete the project from FEMA would be $98,910.00.
In the best interest of the town, and on the advice of legal counsel the Board of Selectmen have rejected all bids for the removal of debris. The project will be completed by the Town of Tolland’s Department of Public Works.
A letter from Robert Gery, Chairman of the Building Committee was received. The letter make a committee recommendation to the Board of Selectmen to award the bid to Beckman ($10,750.00). The Board of Selectmen awarded bid to the lowest bidder being Dan Woodger of Rockwood Farms ($10,500.00)

Greg’s Creative Landscapes – Pillars, Stonewall and gate $16,000.00
Bids will be given to the Cemetery Committee for review.
