Board of Selectmen
Town of Tolland

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING – September 8, 2008 5:00 PM

Selectmen Present:     Eric R. Munson, Jr., Steven DellaGiustina and Thomas Paine

Paul Petit, Assistant Superintendent of Southwick Tolland Regional School met with the board to discuss the recommendation on Payment of MSBA Project Bond Issue. On December 14, 2006 the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) issued a reimbursement check to the Southwick-Tolland Regional School district (STRSD) in the amount of $498,495 for the energy conversion project at our regional high school. Subsequent to that time, the two member towns voted at their respective annual town meetings in May, 2007 to transfer the money to the STRSD’s Stabilization Account where the money is accounted for to this date. In August, 2008 the Department of Revenue (DOR) has informed STRD that these MSBA lump sum payments must be used to pay off any outstanding bond issues that may have been incurred during an MSBA funding supported project. The Board of Selectmen voted to have the School Committee move forward as needed.

Robert Littlefield, Fire Chief discussed the clearing of the town property located on Route 57. Chief Littlefield offered to have the Volunteer Firemen clear the property. The Volunteer Fire Department and Police Department will work with The Department of Public Works in clearing the property. Steve will also speak with Robert Gery, Chairman of the Public Safety and Municipal Complex Committee

The Board of Selectmen authorized Robert Littlefield, Fire Chief to disperse of Engine 1. No records have been found showing the legal ownership.
