MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING – June 5, 2006 6:00 PM

Selectmen Present:  Eric R. Munson, Jr., James Deming and
                                 Steven Dellaguistina


Robert Littlefield, Fire Chief, requested that the Fire Department’s mail be delivered to 162 Colebrook River Rd. instead of The Tolland Town Hall. The board agreed to the change provided that the address is separate from the Tolland DPW. The mail will be delivered to 162A Colebrook River Road. Robert will handle all paperwork that is required for the change with the Granville Post Office.

Joanne Duval, Transfer Station Committee presented the specifications for the construction of the transfer station office/shed. A completion date of late September is what the committee is hoping for. The Tolland Historical Committee will be removing the existing shed.

An informational handout is currently being designed to be handed out with each permit that is sold. The permits will not be available for Monday, June 12th.  The committee is requesting that the expiration of Fiscal 06 permits be extended to July 17th.. The Selectmen agreed to the extension.

An open container will be schedule for sometime in July and another container for the fall. The Board of Selectmen voted to set a charge for all electronics to be $10/per item, propane tanks $5/ea and Batteries $5/ea. The committee is also working on a list of fees for bulky waste.

A heated discussion between John Panaia and Margaret McClellan, Treasurer regarding who is responsible for completing the reimbursement of Chapter 90.

Jim asked John where the town’s pick up truck was. John stated that it was being repaired. An indication was made to Jim that the new axle truck had been seen after hours out of town. Jim asked John if he was driving the new axle truck in place of the pick up, John stated that he was “breaking the new truck in”. Jim told John that he is to use his own vehicle to travel from home to work if the pick up truck is being repaired.

An invoice from Southwick Electric was discussed with John. The invoice will be discussed with town counsel.

Regarding the heating system located at The Tolland Public Library The Board of Selectmen received proposals from Arnold Heating and Durfey Heating Systems for the inspection of the existing heating system, and repair or replacement as indicated by their inspection. . The board voted to contract with Arnold Heating to replace the existing furnace and Durfey Heating Systems to install an air return and new duck work.

Lawn Care bids-  The board voted to accept the bid of Gary O’Brien for lawn mowing and lawn care. However, the Board of Selectmen would like to specify that the trimming includes all trimming around tombstones and outbuildings.

This contractual service would be provided to the town for fiscal 07 which begins July 1, 2006 and ends June 30, 2007.
