MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING - Oct. 18, 2004 6:10 PM
Selectmen Present: Eric R. Munson, JR, Wesley D. Greene II and James Deming
Present: John Panaia, Highway Superintendent
Ralph Ledger, and David Barney of the Finance Committee
The Selectmen appointed two additional election workers:
Carolyn Bartels and Patricia Pezzillo
Finance Committee
John Panaia informed the Board and the Finance Committee members that he had to replace the furnace at the town hall. And that the furnace at the highway garage also needs to be fixed or replaced. Len told John that the furnace could be fixed but will probably only last through the winter. The Board and Finance Committee suggested that John just replace the highway furnace. John will get replacement prices.
John also informed the Board and the Finance Committee that he is also having many issues with the town trucks. The trucks are as follows:
1986 Mack (Tri-Axle) is completely out of service with the frame broken in two.
1985 Mack (Single-Axle) is also out of service with the frame broken in four.
1991 Mack (Single-Axle) is barely running and are finding that they are putting a lot of money into it to keep it running.
The Finance Committee asked John for the options. John stated that the only option would be to purchase one (tri-axle) and one (single-axle) using Chapter 90 monies and go forward with the process of buying a new (single-axle) truck for fiscal 06. The Finance Committee suggested that John get some prices so that they could go forward with the process. The process of purchasing a new truck will take approximately 8 mths.
