Finance Committee Minutes
March 3, 2008
The Finance Committee/ Selectmen’s meeting was called to order at 6:00 P.M. In attendance were Ted Locke, Mira Munson, Steve DellaGuistina, Jim Deming and absent were Margaret McClellan and Ralph Ledger.
Wayne Carr, Highway Superintendent, was present to explain his budget and answer any questions the committee might have. Wayne reduced the request for tools and explained the money was for hand tools, grinding wheels, warning signs, and shovels. For winter, tools were snow plow edges, loader shear pins, tools and blades. The increase in #6 (in his detailed budget) from $30,000 to $60,000 was for dirt roads – he didn’t get money last year and needs it- he needs culverts on Rivers Road, sub drains on Rivers and Club House Roads, and paving on East Otis and Club House Roads as well as 3 culverts on East Otis Road. He will also need to rent an excavator and roller for some of the work. He also needs supplies, steel and welding rod – these should be in supplies not equipment.
Fire Dept. – need Chief present to discuss his budget request – still has $11,000 in current budget year.
School Budget – now relects a 10% increase for Tolland ($344,228). Tolland’s minimum contribution is $276,708.
Capitol Request – dump truck – must determine cost of sand if delivered vs. cost of own truck that could haul sand.
We will hold the next Finance/Selectmen’s meeting next week if everyone can be there.
