Continued review of abatement applications
The Babbitt's [116-34] came in and wanted to be present when their abatement application was reviewed. Apparently there was some misunderstanding when they called earlier in the day, they thought that we weren't going to allow them to be present when we reviewed their abatement application. The message was meant to be that of course they could be present, but not during review of other abatements. They questioned this also, and after reviewing MGL 59 61A, Open Meeting Laws, it seems that they could be present. They stated that they were only interested in their own anyway. There seems to be some conflict between what is stated on the abatement form and MGL 59 61A and 59 60. Sue V. to call Attorney Locke to clarify. It was previously understood between the Assessors that because the Babbitts had stated in their application that they kept comparing their home to Susan Moore's so, Susan Moore left the room for the review of Babbitt's abatement. This review went on for
longer than anticipated and will be continued. Susan Moore left and went home after waiting at least an hour.
Opened and reviewed the mail.
Approved and signed Motor Vehicle Abatements.
Approved and signed Motor Vehicle Commitment.
Approved and signed Personal Property Abatements
Release of Overlay spreadsheet and letter were prepared and signed. To be given to Margaret for the next Selectmen/Finance Advisory Committee meeting.
