Reminder: State Primary 9/4/2018
State Primary Information

The State Primary will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018. The polling hours are 7AM to 8PM at the Public Safety Complex (PSC).

Please note if you are registered to vote as a Democrat, Republican, or Libertarian you will be given that ballot.  If you are registered to vote as Unenrolled or any other political designation you request the ballot of your choice.  Specimen ballots can be reviewed prior to arriving at the polls at this web address http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ele/ele18/state_primary_candidates18.htm   Also specimen ballots are always posted for your review at the polls before checking in to vote.

REQUESTING ABSENTEE BALLOTS

The only reasons to request absentee ballots are as follows:
Absence from the town during the hours the polls are open.
Physical disability preventing you from going to the polling place.
Religious belief.

OR

a Massachusetts citizen absent from the state; or
an active member of the armed forces or merchant marines, their spouse
or dependent; or
a person confined in a correctional facility or a jail, except if by reason of
felony conviction.

Absentee ballot request forms are available our website www.tolland-ma.gov , on the State of Ma website and at the town hall.  The request must be completed and received by the Town Clerk so that the ballot can be mailed to you a.s.a.p.  Be sure to follow the instructions when completing the absentee ballot which includes filling out the front of the brown envelope, signing it and sealing your ballot inside.  The absentee ballot can’t be dropped in the Town Hall front door mail drop;  mailed  so that it has a postmark or hand delivered to the Town Clerk up until close of polls 8:00 p.m. day of the election.  You may also arrange with the Town Clerk to come in and fill out a request for absentee ballot form and then vote your absentee ballot prior to the election, contact info below.

The absentee ballot application deadline is Friday August 31st ~ 10 am – 5 pm.  Town Clerk will be at the Town Hall where you can apply for and vote your absentee ballot.  If she has to be at the PSC for election set up a note will be on the entrance door of the town hall directing you to go there.
