Tolland Broadband Update

The three town proposal by Frontier Communications to build, own and operate a Fiber to the Premises broadband network has expired after the Town of New Marlborough did not accept the Frontier offer. This leaves Frontier Communications with the option to offer Tolland and Sandisfield with a proposal to build, own and operate a FTTP broadband network. As of this writing we do not have an official offer from Frontier and it is possible one may be forthcoming. However, in the absence of an offer from Frontier, the Broadband Committee and Selectboard have decided to consider the options of building, owning and contracting operation of a town owned network by working with Westfield Gas & Electric. Tolland also is considering an offer from Matrix Design and Engineering who would build, own
and operate a FTTP broadband network. Our meetings with Westfield G & E will be posted at the Town Hall and will begin this month. Should you have any questions please contact broadbandcommittee@tolland-ma.com.
