Regular Meeting
January 15, 2014 8:00 p.m.

PRESENT:        Chairman Perry; Members, Mr. Carr, Ms. Pinckney, Mrs. Byrnes and Ms. Greenwood

ABSENT: Mr. Mignogna

ROCK ISLAND SOUND – 54 MAIN STREET

The Board reviewed plans for new window signage in the Main Street Historic District.

Chairman Perry questioned whether anyone wished to address the Board on this matter.  
No one appeared.

Ms. Pinckney moved, seconded by Ms. Greenwood and unanimously carried to issue “Certificate of Appropriateness” for new window signage in the Main Street Historic District at 54 Main Street as shown on the plans received by the Building Department dated November 12, 2013.  

ROCK ISLAND SOUND – 6 MAIN STREET

The Board reviewed plans for new window signage in the Main Street Historic District.

Chairman Perry questioned whether anyone wished to address the Board on this matter.  
No one appeared.

Ms. Pinckney moved, seconded by Ms. Greenwood and unanimously carried to issue “Certificate of Appropriateness” for new window signage at 6 Main Street as shown on the plans received by the Building Department dated November 12, 2013.   

THE TWISTED OAK RESTAURANT – 61 MAIN STREET

The Board reviewed plans to paint existing storefront and replace signage in the Main Street Historic District.  

Chairman Perry questioned whether anyone wished to address the Board on this matter.  
No one appeared.

“The Twisted Oak Restaurant – 61 Main Street - I have reviewed this application to paint existing storefront and determined the proposal appears to pose no significant adverse environmental impact.”

Ms. Greenwood moved, seconded by Mrs. Byrnes and unanimously carried to issue “Certificate of Appropriateness” to paint existing storefront and replace signage in the Main Street Historic District at 61 Main Street as shown on the plans received by the Building Department dated November 26, 2013 with colors chosen in “Option 1.”

CAVIOR RESIDENCE – 28 BEECH LANE

The Board reviewed plans for replacement and installation of fence in the rear of the property.  

Chairman Perry questioned whether anyone wished to address the Board on this matter.  
No one appeared.

“Cavior – 28 Beech Lane - I have reviewed this application for replacement and installation of fence in the rear of the property and determined the proposal appears to pose no significant adverse environmental impact.”

Mr. Carr moved, seconded by Ms. Greenwood and unanimously carried to approve the replacement and installation of a fence in the rear of the property as shown on the plans received by the Building Department dated December 3, 2013.

JONES RESIDENCE – 20 WOODLAWN STREET

The Board reviewed plans for the removal of a failing stacked stone wall and replacing with a cinderblock wall finished with stucco.  

Chairman Perry questioned whether anyone wished to address the Board on this matter.  
No one appeared.

“Jones – 20 Woodlawn Street - I have reviewed this application to remove a failing stacked stone wall and replace with a cinderblock wall finished with stucco and determined the proposal appears to pose no significant adverse environmental impact.”

Mrs. Byrnes moved, seconded by Ms. Pinckney and unanimously carried to approve the removal of a failing stacked stone wall and replacing with a cinderblock wall finished with stucco at 20 Woodlawn Street as shown on the plans received by the Building Department dated December 17, 2013.

D’AIELLO RESIDENCE – 45 SHELDON AVENUE

The Board reviewed plans to replace all the windows on the existing residence.  

Chairman Perry questioned whether anyone wished to address the Board on this matter.  
No one appeared.

“D’Aiello – 45 Sheldon Avenue - I have reviewed this application to replace all the windows on the existing residence and determined the proposal appears to pose no significant adverse environmental impact.”

Ms. Greenwood moved, seconded by Mr. Carr and unanimously carried to approve the replacement of all the windows on the existing residence at 45 Sheldon Avenue as shown on the plans received by the Building Department dated December 18, 2013.

TRILOGY – 107 NORTH BROADWAY

The Board reviewed plans to replace a freestanding sign and new awning sign in the Broadway Sign District.  

Discussion followed.  The Board members requested that applicant reconsider the freestanding sign and return to the Board with a smaller freestanding sign.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Mr. Carr moved, seconded by Ms. Greenwood and unanimously carried that the minutes of the Architectural Review Board’s November 20, 2013 meeting be approved as submitted.  

Mr. Carr moved, seconded by Mrs. Byrnes and unanimously carried that the minutes of the Architectural Review Board’s December 18, 2013 meeting be approved as submitted.
