Regular Meeting
July 23, 2008           8 p.m.

PRESENT:        Members, Mr. Mignogna, Ms. Pinckney, Mrs. Byrnes and Ms. Lambert

ABSENT:         Chairman Perry; Members, Mr. Carr

FIXELL/HUDSON RESIDENCE – 117 NO. WASHINGTON STREET

Applicant requested an adjournment.

FIXLER RESIDENCE – 45 TARRYHILL ROAD

Application withdrawn.

BEASLEY RESIDENCE – 76 FAIRVIEW AVENUE

The Board reviewed plans to replace existing single pane windows and frames with new double hung windows and frames.

Chairman Perry questioned whether anyone wished to address the Board on this matter.
No one appeared.

Chairman Perry reported receipt of the following memo dated July 23, 2008, from Michael Blau, Environmental Review Officer:

“Beasley Residence – 76 Fairview Avenue - I have reviewed this application to replace existing single pane windows and frames with new double hung windows and frames and find the proposals appear to pose no significant adverse environmental impact.”

Ms. Lambert moved, seconded by Mrs. Byrnes and unanimously carried to approve the replacement of existing single pane windows and frames with new double hung windows and frames at 76 Fairview Avenue as shown on the plans received by the Building Department June 24, 2008.   

PLATT RESIDENCE – 11 SUMMIT STREET

The Board reviewed plans to add a six foot high tan vinyl fence on sides and rear of property.

Chairman Perry questioned whether anyone wished to address the Board on this matter.
No one appeared.

Chairman Perry reported receipt of the following memo dated July 23, 2008, from Michael Blau, Environmental Review Officer:

“Platt Residence – 11 Summit Street - I have reviewed this application to erect a 6 foot high tan vinyl fence on sides and rear of the property and find the proposal appears to pose no significant adverse environmental impact.”

Ms. Lambert moved, seconded by Mrs. Byrnes and unanimously carried to approve the addition of a six foot high tan vinyl fence on sides and rear of property at 11 Summit Street as shown on the plans received by the Building Department June 25, 2008.    

SWEET GRASS GRILL – 24 MAIN STREET

The Board reviewed plans for replacement windows, door, painting and sign in the Main Street Historic District.  

Chairman Perry questioned whether anyone wished to address the Board on this matter.
No one appeared.

Chairman Perry reported receipt of the following memo dated July 23, 2008, from Michael Blau, Environmental Review Officer:

“Sweet Grass Grill – 24 Main Street - I have reviewed this application for replacement windows, door, and painting in the Main Street Historic District and find the proposals appear to pose no significant adverse environmental impacts.”

Ms. Lambert moved, seconded by Mrs. Byrnes and unanimously carried to issue “Certificate of Appropriateness” for replacement windows, door, painting and sign in the Main Street Historic District at 24 Main Street as shown on the plans received by the Building Department July 1, 2008 and July 23, 2008.

DOUBLETREE HOTEL – 455 SOUTH BROADWAY

The Board reviewed plans to install a 32” by 69 15/16” light box to replace existing bistro sign in the Broadway Sign District.  

Chairman Perry questioned whether anyone wished to address the Board on this matter.
No one appeared.

Mrs. Byrnes moved, seconded by Ms. Lambert and unanimously carried to approve the installation of a 32” by 69 15/16” light box to replace existing bistro sign in the Broadway Sign District at 455 South Broadway as shown on the plans received by the Building Department July 1, 2008.

EF SCHOOL – 100 MARYMOUNT AVENUE

The Board reviewed plans for recommendation to the Board of Trustees relative to Historic Designation for the following buildings; Science Hall, Butler Hall and Gerard Hall at the EF Schools property on Marymount Avenue.

Architectural Review Board’s recommendation to the Board of Trustees is as follows:

Ms. Lambert moved, seconded by Ms. Pinckney and unanimously carried to approve the Historic Designation of the following buildings; Science Hall, Butler Hall and Gerard Hall at the EF Schools property on Marymount Avenue.
