Swampscott Downtown Vision and Action Plan
The Planning Board is happy to announce the completion and release of the "Swampscott Downtown Vision and Action Plan." Completed by MAPC, the study was funded by a District Local Technical Assistant grant awarded to the Town and the Planning Board in early 2012. The study focused on the downtown portion of Humphrey St and its connection to the MBTA railroad station.
The study includes input from residents, business owners and local officials through public workshops that were held last year. The Planning Board would like to thank all those who took part in these sessions.
There were four action "themes" that MAPC developed through the study:
- Build a vibrant downtown with appropriate mixed uses
- Use coastal resources to establish an identity for downtown
- Support businesses and attract people to the neighborhood
- Make it safe and easy to get around
