2009 ANNUAL TOWN CENSUS

According to Massachusetts State Law all residents of a city or town must be contacted in January or February to determine their residence as of January 1st of that year.

The 2009 Annual Town Census has been recently mailed to all residents in the Town of Swampscott confirming residency.  Data collected from the census is used to publish an annual street listing containing information on residents over the age of seventeen.  The statistics obtained from the census also aids in federal and state finances to the town. All information on children under the age of 17 is not a public record.

Failure to respond to this mailing shall result in removal from the active voting list and may result in removal from the voter registration rolls.

If there is no party information next to your name, you are not registered to vote.  If you wish to register to vote, you may register in-person at Town Hall during normal business hours or by downloading the form by visiting the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s website: http://www.eac.gov/voter/Registration%20to%20Vote then mail the completed downloaded form to the Town Clerk’s Office at 22 Monument Ave., Swampscott, MA.  01907.


Please follow Census instructions, sign and respond within ten (10) days, even if no changes are necessary.  For your convenience drop boxes are located at Town Hall. Any questions regarding the Annual Census please don’t hesitate to call Sue or Connie in the Clerk’s office at 781-596-8855.
