Swampscott Senior Abatement Program
Qualifications for Participation.
1. Applications must be at least sixty (60) years of age at the time the application is filed.
2. Applicant’s annual income must not exceed $45, 000.00 for single and $60, 000.00 for combines married couple.
3. Applicants must be domiciled in Swampscott as of July 1st preceding the commencement of the following calendar year.
4. Applicant must complete all volunteer work by November 30th.
Since the Town has agreed that the program will allow twenty-seven (27) participants, if the number of qualified applicants exceeds that number, a lottery will determine which applicants will participate in the program. Each applicant will be allowed to participate in the program based on the volume and availability of appropriate work.
Please be aware that the acceptance in this program does not guarantee the maximum
allowable abatement of $750.00. The amount earned will depend on the availability of work throughout the Town and each applicant’s ability to perform the required work.
Applications may be obtained at the Swampscott Assessor’s Office, located at 837 Humphrey Street, Swampscott, Mass, 01907.
