Appointments
•Chairman Gallup opened the public hearing on the acquisition of the Wendell Marsh North Property at 7:00pm. This is the first of two required public hearings Chairman Webb, Sunapee Conservation Commission stated that this is a project the Commission has been working on for some time. Chairman Webb said the cost of the project is $291,000, which includes $257,000 from the Conservation Commission budget and $24,000 from fundraising. Beth stated there are three (3) parts to the transaction.
- Ausbon Sargent has entered into a purchase and sales agreement with Jolyn Johnson to purchase the property, with the contingency that Ausbon Sargent could assign that to the Town, the first document the Selectmen will sign.
- Purchase of the property by the Town from Jolyn Johnson.
- The Town will grant a conservation easement to Ausbon Sargent. Beth went over the “use limitations” and the Town of Sunapee reserve rights on the property. The public hearing closed at 7:25PM.
Selectmen Action
•Motion to approve the PSNH Petition and Pole License by Selectman Gottling, seconded by Selectman Trow. Unanimous
•Chairman Gallup read into the record a letter regarding a parking ticket that was issued at the Georges Mills Beach. The request has asked that the Board of Selectmen forgive this first time offense or reducing the amount. After discussion, the Board denied the request. The Board asked the Town Manager to write a letter.
•The Board received a request for use of the gazebo on May 31, 2014 for a wedding. The applicant would like to set-up a tent and 130 chairs to accommodate their guests. The Board felt that allowing the tent would be “opening the door” to bigger and larger events, which is not the intended use. Chairman Gallup went on to say that the applicant needed to be aware that the Gazebo is for public use and it is a possibility that other people in the harbor could be around the Gazebo during their event. Chairman Gallup also wanted the applicant to be aware that a Police Officer will be assigned to the event and there will be a charge to the applicant. The Board asked the Town Manager to write the applicant a letter.
•Motion to approve the use of facilities form for the Murray wedding to be held at the gazebo on September 28th by Selectman Gottling, seconded by Selectman Trow. Unanimous
• Motion to approve the use of facilities form for the Sunapee Chowder Challenge to be held in the harbor on September 29th by Selectman Hastings, seconded by Selectman Trow.
Chairman Report
•Chairman Gallup wished the attendance at the Summer Town Meeting had been better.
Town Manager
•Donna Nashawaty reviewed the Monthly Budget Report.
•Donna Nashawaty read the letter that Scott Hazelton received from Peg Chalmers acknowledging the fabulous job that Craig Heino has done this year in helping to beautify the harbor.
•Donna Nashawaty read the email that she received from Kris McAllister regarding her appreciation of the Georges Mills restrooms and their cleanliness.
•The Harbor House Livery meeting has been changed from 8/13/13 to 8/20/13. The Conservation Commission will hold a meeting on 8/28/13 to vote to purchase the Wendell Marsh North Property.
