Recreation Committee Minutes 7/8/09
In attendance: Scott Blewitt, Paul Skarin, Brian Garland, Marilyn Morse, Patricia Halpin, Craig Heino
Meeting called to order at 7:05
Discussion regarding the donated shed sitting at Harry Tilson Park: Approval has been received from the Society of Protective Forest to move it by the fall. Mark Usko has volunteered to move it. Craig Heino will fill out building permit. We’re still looking for a crane.
Looking for thoughts as to why Dewey infield should or should not be grass. Not at this time. Discussion about the dugouts and batting cages being top priority.
Sign will be installed at Veteran’s Field.
Scott had 13 people enter the Big Wheel Race. He estimates there were 200 spectators. The parade was a great success. Money was raised for the fireworks: $11,000. A special thanks to Artie Osborne and Jim Yates for all their help and time.
Craig made a motion to use remaining $1000.00 from fireworks to build second pontoon and other equipment. Patricia seconded, passed by all.
Fishing Derby:
August 8th is the fishing derby.
Craig will ask Tony to look at ditch line at Veteran’s Field to improve the drainage.
The meeting ended at 8:15 pm with motion from Patricia seconded by Marilyn.
