Recreation Committee Minutes 2009/04/08
Sunapee Recreation Meeting Minutes for April 8, 2009

In attendance:  Scott Blewitt, Brian Garland, Marylyn Morse, Craig Heino, Chuck Weinstein, Patricia Halpin.

Meeting called to order just after 7:09 PM

The minutes from the March Recreation Committee meeting were reviewed.  Chuck Weinstein made a motion that the minutes be accepted as submitted, the motion was seconded by Marilyn Morse


Spring Sports:
Scott gave a review of the current status of the Baseball, Softball and T ball programs.
q       T ball has 40 children signed up for he program
q       Softball has two teams.
q       Baseball there are 4 rookie teams, 2 minor and 1 major team.
We are fortunate that coaches have stepped forward to volunteer to coach all of the teams.

Field clean up day will be held April 29 at Dewey Field.  The high department will work at spreading the clay mixture that was stock pile in the parking area. In turn they will also spread the blue stone in the parking area at Dewey Field.  The clean up will run from 9AM-12PM

Ski Tow Hill:
The first subcommittee meeting was held and the discussion has begun on what recreational facilities the new park should have. More meetings to come, but a subsequent meeting has not been set.

Patricia Halpin made a motion that Ski Tow Hill is renamed Harry Tilton Park, the motion was seconded by Marylyn Morse and passed unanimously.

Spring Summer Newsletter:
The spring and summer newsletter is in the works.  It is set to be mailed out mid May.

Spaghetti Dinner:
The spaghetti diner held at the Double Diamond Café raised $900 to support the sake board park.  Scott reported that several of the ramps have been damaged, but repairs have been made.

Upcoming Dates:
q       Green up day May 2nd.
q       Fisher Cat Game May 28 in Manchester.  $25 per person includes dinner at the ball park.
q       There are still tickets available for the Boston Red Sox game in August.
q       July 4 fireworks have been confirmed for the evening of July 4th.
q       Walk the Line, the Aerosmith Tribute band has been confirmed to play a concert during the summer on (No date recorded but the date is set).
q       British Soccer Camp is for the last week in July.
q       Memorial Day is set as the beach clean up day.

The meeting ended at 8:12 PM with a motion from Patricia Halpin and seconded by Brian Garland.
