February 12th meeting

Meeting called to order by Paul at 635pm
Leila joined the meeting to see if there was anything else that the boys can do to help raise awareness for the skate park. ~Discussed fund raisers. ~It was asked that we send out an email stating that we as a Recreation Committee, support the updates to the park. ~~~In terms of what financial support will be given from the Recreation Department, will be discussed after the town vote.
Leila Emory also asked if there was a way to notify the town if open gym gets cancelled. ~~She was concerned about kids being left at the gym with no supervision. ~It was discussed that usually when open gym is cancelled, it is a last minute decision. ~It was noted and will try to make cancellations public.
Basketball participation: K-2 Grade is down this year from previous years. Grades 3-6 consistent participation. Many tournaments next few weekends.
Floor hockey is going well. ~Possibly 12 people every Sunday. ~Floor hockey is every Sunday from 8 to 10am.
Craig is working on the dugouts for Dewey Field. ~
We decided to keep the pitchers mound the same distance it is, therefore we remain in the same league.
We need umpires for softball and baseball. Because we are an entity of the town, umpires need to be either a volunteer or an employee of the town. ~
Veterans Field: ~~Mark Usko is set to start sometime next week. ~
Patricia noted that over MLK holiday, the hockey rink in the Harbor was very dirty. ~~The door was left open, the skates were messy and some were missing. ~~This is rare, we usually have found it to be in good condition. ~~Residents are using the rink, and Recreation is getting good feedback regarding the rink. ~
Mount Sunapee Ski Day to be held Friday of Feb. school vacation. Scott will be in touch with Mae Leonard at the mountain. ~
Scott mentioned that he may be offering paddle board yoga at Dewey Beach this summer. ~We have 3 boards, and would need to hire an instructor.
Next meeting bumped to March 20th because of voting day on the 13th.
