Topics of Discussion
- Received handout on BAC role from school board chairman and listened to school board chairman describe how school intended to work with BAC
- Reviewed BAC school-related data request
- Discussed “Undesignated Fund Balance” and the process that takes place when actual spending is less than budget in a given school year
- Discussed the school budget vs actual expenditures for the previous few school years and received feedback on the possible reasons that actual expenditures were consistently below budget.
- Discussed the increases in compensation that are included in the FY 2015-2016 budget and the rationale behind the increase percentages
- Discussed contribution percentage toward health insurance of teachers, non-union staff, and administration and received feedback on why different contribution percentages existed for different personnel
- Heard about the potential school-related warrant articles
- Discussed the extent to which contributions from the Sunapee Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and Sunapee Boosters Club are considered when developing the budget
Action and Follow-up items
- Continue analyzing data and gathering insights on both town and school proposed budgets
- Develop presentation for 12/1 BOS meeting
