Sunapee Conservation Commission Meeting minutes of June 2, 2010

Present: Van Webb, Tim Fleury, Robert Hill, Rem Mastin, Bruce Burdett, Lela Emery
Absent: Roger Whitaker

Peter and Debbie Stanley attended the meeting and presented a potential project involving the New London Conservation Commission, Otter Pond Protective Association, Lake Sunapee Protective Association and Ausbon Sargent land Protective Association A parcel of land on Otter Pond has recently been appraised and the owners are looking to sell. The appraisal lists parcel value at $470,000. The idea is that a coalition be organized with representatives from each of the above groups to look into the purchase of this parcel which will then be put in to Conservation Easement Protection with ASLPA. This parcel covers land between New London and Sunapee. Total parcel is 17.2 Acres. At the time of this meeting permission had not yet been obtained to be on the property.

A motion was made by Robert Hill that the SCC support the concept of the Project on Otter Pond and that we be a part of the coalition. The SCC supports the acquisition of the Property for Conservation purposes. Rem Mastin seconded the motion. All in favor 6, opposed 0.

A motion was made by Tim Fleury to have Rem Mastin be the SCC representative for the Project.

June 3, 2010 at 3:30pm SCC members will have a tour of the Field Stone Hills property with Charlie Hirshberg. This will be an opportunity for the SCC to have comment and input on the easement parcel. We will receive a signed deed with a lot description. Lot has not yet been flagged.

Ski Tow Hill – Flagging has started for the Frisbee golf course. SCC is a consult basis for the Recreation Department with this project. Although there has not been any additional information on the project or planning for 2010 shared with us. SCC members feel we need to stay active in the planning process for the Ski Tow Hill property. Tim and Lela will walk the parcel to monitor progress a date of Friday June 19th 8:30 am has been set.

Sunapee Ragged Kearsarge Greenway trail system. Rem has been refreshing signs and trimming and cutting the path. Some small changes will need to be made when it comes through Ski Tow Hill when the activities have been completed.
