At the last meeting of the Board of Selectmen, the Board concurred with the recommendation of Town Administrator Leon A. Gaumond Jr. to establish a temporary committee to help meet one of the stated goals of the Town for 2017 – Plan more community events.
‘One of the things we have been asked to do is start holding more community events; events designed to build interest in the Town, excite community spirit, and encourage more hotel room rentals and restaurant visits,’ said Town Administrator Gaumond. ‘We feel that this new committee would help plan a course of action to meet this goal and I am excited to be working with them towards this goal.’
The members of the committee will be as follows:
- A member of the Board of Selectmen
- A member of the STA or a tourist related business
- A member of the Recreation Committee
- A member of the Cultural Council
- A citizen of the community at large
Individuals interested in serving on this committee are asked to submit a letter/email of interest to Leon Gaumond at lgaumond@town.sturbridge.ma.us by June 9th for priority consideration.
