Sturbridge Selectmen Issue Goals for 2017
At the Selectmen’s Meeting of February 6th, the Board of Selectmen approved the following Town Goals and Objectives for 2017. In no particular order, the goals for the next year are:

  • Finalize Chief Procurement Officer Credentialing
  • Develop 5 year facilities plan
  • Present regional dispatch findings & recommendation for Selectmen’s consideration
  • Work with Personnel Committee & Selectmen to update Personnel Policies
  • Work with Personnel Committee to complete job description review and develop schedule for periodic review of positions
  • Policy development:
  • Conclusion of Selectmen’s meetings
  • Citizens Forum @ Selectmen’s meetings
  • Role of Selectmen
  • Role of the Town Administrator
  • Develop written criteria for TIF’s
  • Comprehensive study of water pipes in the oldest sections of the Town
  • Prepare a DPW Staffing Analysis
  • Complete study of trash hauling vs. landfill operations
  • Prepare action agenda to meet the outstanding items found within our Master Plan & CTD Study
  • Review ‘Complete Streets’ and make recommendation to the Selectmen
  • Prepare a comprehensive list of available commercial & industrial properties for sale or development and assist in its advertising
  • Begin to plan new community events through tourism
  • Explore rezoning of Rte. 15 properties to promote development
The Town Administrator shall be working over the next week to prepare a work plan to meet these goals and will present the work plan to the Selectmen for approval at an upcoming Selectmen's meeting.
