It is my duty to announce that Sturbridge Fire Chief David Zinther has submitted his resignation effective immediately. After considerable thought, Chief Zinther has made the difficult decision to step down as our Fire Chief due to personal reasons.
Even though Chief Zinther has not been here very long, I believe he helped to stabilize our Fire Department. On behalf of the Town, I wish him all the best.
During the next couple of weeks, I will be preparing to establish a Fire Chief Search Committee as required by our Charter and hope to find a retired Chief to serve our community until a new permanent chief is found. Until that time I expect to use internal personnel to maintain our operations.
