STURBRIDGE TO HOLD INFORMATIONAL SESSION ON PROPOSAL TO BRING NATURAL GAS TO TOWN

The Town of Sturbridge will be holding an informational session for members of the public and business community to hear about a proposal to bring natural gas to property owners in Sturbridge.  The informational session will be held on April 27, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at Veterans Hall in Sturbridge Town Hall.

Several weeks ago, representatives from Liberty Utilities (New England Natural Gas Company) Corp. (“Liberty Utilities”) approached the Board of Selectmen with a proposal to bring a natural gas distribution system to Sturbridge with the hope of providing this fuel service to certain neighborhoods in Town.  At that time, the Selectmen suggested that the Town sponsor an informational session to hear a basic proposal from Liberty Utilities and to hear any comments or questions from the community.  The Selectmen expect to formally consider the proposal at a Selectmen’s meeting in May.

Comments or questions may also be sent to the attention of Town Administrator Leon A. Gaumond Jr. via email at lgaumond@town.sturbridge.ma.us.  Any questions or comments received prior to the informational session will be addressed at that meeting.  All comments and questions will be shared with the Selectmen as well.
