STURBRIDGE TO HOLD PUBLIC FORUM ON USE OF THE TOWN COMMON

The Town Common Study Committee will be hold a public forum to receive public input into the use of the Town Common on Monday, September 21st at 5:00 p.m. at the Sturbridge Town Hall, 308 Main Street.

“The Study Committee has been charged by the Sturbridge Board of Selectmen to look into the usage of the Town Common and to make recommendations to the Selectmen sometime this Fall,” said Town Administrator Leon A. Gaumond Jr.  “We have been examining many aspects of the area known as the Town Common, including traffic, parking, types of uses and their impact on the trees as well as many other things.  We would like to receive comments from the general public prior to finalizing any recommendations to the Selectmen,” Gaumond continued.

The Town Common Study Committee was created this past May when Gaumond started as the Town Administrator.  Other members include Town Planner Jean Bubon, Tree Warden Tom Chamberland, Recreation Coordinator Lynne Girouard, DPW Greg Morse, Fire Chief David Zinther, and two citizens, Anthony Celluza and Vernon Jackson.  

Those unable to attend the public forum may send written comments in care of the Town Administrator, Sturbridge Town Hall, 308 Main Street, Strubridge, MA 01566; via fax at 508-347-5886 or by email at lgaumond@town.sturbridge.ma.us.  Comments should be submitted by noon on September 21st and will be read into the record at the public forum.
