The Town of Sturbridge will be holding a Special Town Meeting on Monday, July 27th, at 7:00 p.m. at the Sturbridge Town Hall on the second floor.
There is only one article on the Town Meeting Warrant. See attached.
At issue is a request to authorize the Board of Selectmen to enter into a long time (up to 20 years) agreement with an energy company to purchase net metering credits which would provide a financial benefit to the Town of Sturbridge in excess of $1 million. The Selectmen are prepared to enter into an agreement with NextSun but needs Town Meeting approval to enter into any agreements in excess of 3 years.
The Finance Committee heard from the Town's energy consultant last week and they voted 6-0 to endorse the project.
