The Sturbridge Walmart has issued a $2,000.00 community grant award to the Sturbridge Police Department. Each year, Walmart provides grant funding to various community groups and government organizations throughout the country.
The ceremonial check presentation took place at the Sturbridge Walmart’s grand re-opening, on July 17th. The ceremonial check was presented by store manager, Wendy Hubbard.

“The Sturbridge Police are extremely grateful to Walmart for all that they do for our community. These funds will be applied toward youth-related programs that will directly benefit the children and young adults of our community, as well as provide our youth with positive and safe activities,” said Lt. Mark G. Saloio.

The funding Walmart provides has been used for such youth-related initiatives as National Night Out, RAD Kids, pre and post prom parties, and various other positive recreational activities in the community.
